Girls, B, and Developmental Assistant Coaches

Description:
Each assistant coach for the B, Developmental, and Girls teams are primarily volunteer positions. They are afforded more flexibility than head coaches, but are to attend at least one practice a week in the spring. Assistant coaches are to attend all of their team's tournament events. The primary role of an assistant coach is to be available for the head coach when delegating teaching at practices/splitting players into groups. Additionally, being an assistant coach serves as the best way for one to become a head coach in future years and allows them to learn about coaching, gather experience, and meet numerous other teams and coaches from around the Midwest and beyond.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist your team's head coach with practices and at events
  • Be available to help specific groups when the head coach has players split into different sections
  • Act a second set of eyes, ears, and a voice at events while coaching, to assist the head coach
  • Provide aid with stats and line calling at events
  • Coach and facilitate practices during times when the head coach is unable to attend practice, when notified ahead of time

Qualifications:
  • Must obtain a background check with CGHS (free)
  • Must obtain a background check and coaching membership with USAU (paid for)
  • Must obtain a level 1 and level 2 USAU Coaching Certification (paid for)
  • Must be in good standing with CGHS, USAU, and CGUC while encouraging good sportsmanship
  • Must have a level of Ultimate understanding equal to or greater than the level of play for your team

Hours/Dates:
B Team Boys Assistant Coaches
  • Spring: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 3-5pm from March 6th to May 4th (8 weeks)
  • 8 weeks total, 24 days scheduled, 48 hours of practice/training time
  • 3 (freshmen) OR 4 (b-team) weekends for tournaments, dates vary and are in addition to the times listed above

Girls and Developmental Team Assistant Coach
  • Spring: Mondays and Wednesdays from 3-5pm from March 5th to May 9th (10 weeks)
  • 10 weeks total, 20 days scheduled, 40 hours of practice/training time
  • 4 weekends for tournaments, dates vary and are in addition to the times listed above

Compensation:
  • One home jersey without number
  • Lodging accommodations for travel tournaments

Flexibility:
  • Minimum one practice per week. Communication with your head coach is key.
  • Must attend all tournaments.

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience playing at a competitive club or AUDL level
  • Experience teaching outside of sports
  • Physical training background
  • First aid training
